AbstractThis paper presents an efficient text mining method focusing on extraction and updating of unknown words (unknown foreign words) to improve data classification and POS tags. Proposed methods can also help to improve the accuracy of mining frequent pattern and association rules from unstructured (textual) data. Many researches have been done by numerous scholars on estimation and segmentation for unknown words, but, they are limited to grammatical and linguistic rules with limited vocabulary. In our project we have consider the fact, that no language is free from the influence of foreign languages, especially, country like Korea where there is a rapid improvement in the area of culture and media and the frequent usage of these foreign languages, resulted in mixing up different languages, their style along with slangs and also abbreviated words in daily life and conversation. The main characteristic of our system is to find such unknown foreign words and update them to appropriate words, which depends on available information through dictionaries. We have also explained the essential natural language processing (NLP) tools used for data processing. Our proposed method used simple but efficient techniques, first it converts the data into structured form, using data preprocessing techniques. In this phase data passes through different stages, such as, cleaning, integration and selection of important data, and then it gets organized into databases structure for further analysis and processing. This database consists of different kinds of dictionaries, our system heavily based on dictionaries. We have manually created various kinds of dictionaries for different kinds of unknown foreign words processing and analysis with the help of our team members. Our proposed methods for discovering and updating foreign unknown word, first discovers the foreign word using morphological analysis with the help of automatically and manually created dictionaries, then suffix trimming and word segmentation, next our algorithm checks for its different written pattern using dictionaries according to its spelling and synonym word in native language (Korean) and also, updates the POS tags. We have tested on different collection of data from economics news, beauty & fashion and college student blogs, the results have shown great efficiency and improvement, and they were adequate enough to research further

Synthesis of VO_2 Nanowire and Observation of the Metal-Insulator Transition

We have fabricated crystalline nanowires of VO_2 using a new synthetic method. A nanowire synthesized at 650^oC shows the semiconducting behavior and a nanowire at 670^oC exhibits the first-order metal-insulator transition which is not the one-dimensional property. The temperature coefficient of resistance in the semiconducting nanowire is 7.06 %/K at 300 K, which is higher than that of commercial bolometer.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figures, This was presented in NANOMAT 2006 "International workshop on nanostructed materials" on June 21-23th of 2006 in Antalya/TURKE

A Case of Acrodermatitis Enteropathica Localized on the Hands and Feet with a Normal Serum Zinc Level

Acrodermatitis enteropathica is classified as a congenital autosomal recessive type and an acquired transient type. This disease manifests as acral and periorificial dermatitis, alopecia, intractable diarrhea, and failure to thrive. Whereas the autosomal hereditary type is caused by malabsorption of zinc in the intestine, the acquired type is caused by low nutritional support or decreased peripheral release of zinc from blood. We experienced a case of a 5-month old, breast feeding, full-term female presenting with only acral bullous dermatitis without diarrhea, periorificial dermatitis and an abnormal serum zinc level

Lemierre Syndrome: A Case of Postanginal Sepsis

Lemierre syndrome is a rare disease that's characterized by internal jugular vein thrombosis and septic emboli. These symptoms typically develop after acute oropharyngeal infection by Fusobacterium necrophorum1). Although this syndrome is less frequently seen in modern times due to the availability of antibiotics, physicians must be aware of the syndrome in order to initiate prompt antibiotics therapy, including coverage of the anerobic organisms. We discuss here the case of an 18-year-old female with Lemierre syndrome and we review the relevant literature on this syndrome

Intrapulmonary Cystic Lymphangioma in a 2-month-old Infant

Lymphangioma is an abnormal collection of lymphatics that are developmentally isolated from the normal lymphatic system. Lymphangioma rarely presents as a solitary pulmonary lesion. We report a rare case of intrapulmonary cystic lymphangioma involving the upper lobe of the right lung, which presented with dyspnea in a 2-month-old infant. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) of the chest demonstrated a well-circumscribed, multiseptate, cystic lesion in the upper lobe of the right lung, mimicking the feature of type I congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation. The tumor was removed by bilobectomy of the upper and middle lobes of the right lung, and its pathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of an intrapulmonary cystic lymphangioma

Tuberculosis among Dislocated North Koreans Entering Republic of Korea since 1999

The collapse of North Korea's public health system has increased the development of tuberculosis (TB) in its populace. This study investigated the prevalence of active and latent TB infection (LTBI) in such people who have settled in the Republic of Korea since 1999. From 1999 to August 2006, 7,722 dislocated North Koreans entered the Republic of Korea and all were screened immediately for active TB. Demographic and clinical characteristics were reviewed from the official records of the Settlement Support Office for Dislocated North Koreans, based in the Ministry of Unification. Of 7,722 participants, 87 (1.13%) were diagnosed with active TB from 1999 to August 2006. Of these, 78 (90%) had pulmonary TB. Checking for the presence of a Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) scar and tuberculin skin test has been performed in all dislocated North Koreans since November 2005. Of 1,112 participants, BCG vaccination scars were found in 67.4%. The tuberculin-positive rate using two tuberculin unit doses of the purified protein derivative RT23 (≥10 mm in diameter) was 81.5%. The prevalence of active TB and LTBI in dislocated North Koreans was high. Because this group bears a disproportionate burden of TB, we need to initiate a specific control programme and to plan for the impact of this disease in the Republic of Korea

Repair of Long-segment Congenital Tracheal Stenosis

Long-segment tracheal stenosis in infants and small children is difficult to manage and can be life-threatening. A retrospective review of 12 patients who underwent surgery for congenital tracheal stenosis between 1996 and 2004 was conducted. The patients' median age was 3.6 months. All patients had diffuse tracheal stenosis involving 40-61% (median, 50%) of the length of the trachea, which was suspected to be associated with complete tracheal ring. Five patients had proximal bronchial stenosis also. Ten patients had associated cardiac anomalies. Three different techniques were performed; pericardial patch tracheoplasty (n=4), tracheal autograft tracheoplasty (n=6), and slide tracheoplasty (n=2). After pericardial tracheoplasty, there were 2 early and 2 late deaths. All patients survived after autograft and slide tracheoplasty except one who died of pneumonia one year after the autograft tracheoplasty. The duration of ventilator support was 6-40 days after autograft and 6-7 days after slide tracheoplasty. The duration of hospital stay was 13-266 days after autograft and 19-21 days after slide tracheoplasty. Repeated bronchoscopic examinations were required after pericardial and autograft tracheoplasty. These data demonstrate that pericardial patch tracheoplasty show poor results, whereas autograft or slide tracheoplasty gives excellent short- and long-term results
